Round 1 Super Sprint NZ - Taupo
The season opener of the 2024 Super Sprint Motorsport NZ Championship is about to commence. Round 1 is scheduled to take place in the iconic holiday destination, central north islands Taupo, at the Taupo International Motorsport Park.

Headlined by the 11th season of the Toyota 86 Championship, this series is the kick starter for many a future superstar, look forward to door-to-door action from the get-go. Who will be crowned the 2024 series champion?

GT New Zealand Championship, the second headline class, with the Dream Machines hitting the track in a high horsepower all action feature race, affectionately known as the GT’s these are the cars dreams are made of!

The summer series of motorsport is about to fire up, you can catch all the action at the track.

Toyota 86 New Zealand Championship 
Toyota’s acclaimed 86 sports coupe returns for an eleventh championship season after making its debut on New Zealand’s race tracks in 2013 using the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing NZ developed version designed for racing, the TR 86.

✔ Summerset GT New Zealand Championship
There are two classes in the GT New Zealand Championship series A GT4 class featuring GT4 category cars An Open class featuring 911 GT3 Cup, Ferrari Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo.  The 2023/24 Summerset GT New Zealand Championship consists of a five-round series over five months commencing in November 2023

✔ Super V8s (including the new TA2 Series)
All new series featuring the International TA2 race cars and the former V8 Utes now joined into one 'Super' Class, this will provide the crowd with exciting racing with that V8 Rumble we all love.

✔ Mazda Racing Series
The Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Series, now into its 32nd year, is a motorsport championship featuring MAZDA RX7's and RX8's competing across New Zealand, the oldest Racing Series to become sanctioned by Motorsport NZ and has remained one of the most innovative and cost-effective racing categories in NZ motorsport. 

✔ GTRNZ
TradeZone GTRNZ is New Zealands Premiere Open GT Category, With a virtually anything goes ruleset and classes merely separated by laptime. This is the only place you'll see a wild home built turbocharged Mini race door to door with a Factory built GT3 Porsche.

Arguably the most exciting and dynamic racing series in New Zealand. GTRNZ is the only place youll find the worlds best Factory built GT machinery competing against each other for outright honors. From ex V8 Supercars, Porsche Cup, FIA GT3/4, US Built Tranzam's, Even Daytona Prototypes.

If factory race cars arent your thing then don't worry, GTRNZ also has some of the best engineered and most heavily modified home built vehicles in the country. In GTRNZ you'll find a miriad of flame breathing highly modified shed born monsters from Japan, Europe, Australia and America. Everything from 4cyl, V8, Rotary, Turbocharged, Supercharged, All with the common goal to come out on top and show that Kiwis can do it better.

With fields of 60+ cars across two grids and a diverse range of cars which will suit even the wildest of tastes, Pick your favourite and get behind them on track. The racing promises to be some of the most wild and closest you will see all weekend. If you like Fast cars, Flames, Noise, Big Turbos, Big Aero and Big Power this is the class for you.

✔ Pirelli Porsche
The Race Series now incorporates a mixture of one day and two day events, Endurance Race Rounds, combined Trackday participation and a separate new Class for Boxsters.

A world-class facility is home to a number of New Zealand’s biggest motorsport and enthusiast events, including the Taupo Historic GP, the coming Repco Supercars Championship and D1NZ. The venue boasts a private membership and provides regular track days for all car and bike racers/enthusiasts.

Food & Beverages:

  • There will be food and beverages available at the venue. 
  • Alcohol will not be served to minors or intoxicated persons - ID required on request. You may bring a homemade picnic in a soft-chilly bag. 
  • Commercial food is not allowed to be brought into the venue.
  • This is a fantastic event however, you may be exposed to the sun, wind or rain for an extended period, therefore we strongly encourage you to bring along sunscreen, sunglasses, a jacket, be prepared with a fillable water bottle.
