VIBEGALA: Between Scylla and Charybdis

 

Welcome to VIBEGALA, a late-night odyssey sailing between a rockin' dance party and oxytocin-filled cozy cuddle hangout. The setting is a Berkeley Hills mansion with 3 stories and a hot tub, with plenty of space for quiet conversations out of the chaos. There will be a lineup of DJs and musicians, as well as snacks, tea, decks of uncomfortable questions, and a clothing-optional hot tub—bring a towel!

 

7:00pm  Doors open!

 

7:30-8pm   Opening ceremony to welcome us all into this space together. This group has never gotten together before and never will be again, what's it like to be here right now?

8:30-11pm   Graham Patzner of Whiskerman will kick us off on our journey with splendid, rapturous singing 

12-2am   DJ Eva Lygress will take us on an ecstatic dance journey featuring salacious sounds, textures, beats, and rhythms

 

8-9:30pm   Contact improv with Olivia. If you've ever wondered how to do contact improv, this is the place to learn the basics! Roll around the floor and find surfaces of connection with the people around you. Space limited!

10:30-12am   Aella is hosting a weird, experimental descent into dance hell where nobody looks good and grace doesn't matter. We'll start with some technical instruction for good dance basics and see how we can connect those basics to raw expression, and gradually morph into a full-blown, but very weird, dance thing. (This class is flexible; you can engage with it how you want, even if it's "lying still on the floor the entire time", and will probably be fun even if you are a good dancer). Space limited!

10-11pm          Circling with Brian. Space limited! 

 

All night         Qualia bar: a space to slow down and investigate your sensations

8-10:30pm    Custom scent-making at the qualia bar with Andrés Gomés Emilsson

11pm-2am     join m1les for his modular synthesizer jam

 

All night                      Flow arts and clothing-optional hot tubbing (bring a towel!)

10pm and midnight    Fire performance by Lotus and friends

 

All night   Herbal and caffeinated tea served in Chinese tea ceremony style

All night   Pesky decks of interesting questions and other card games

Wear what makes you feel great! If you're looking for a reason to go all out, lean into your sense of Dionysian excess. Think demigods in distress. Diogenes in drag. Tap into your alter ego as an olympian gone wild, a murderess sorceresses, or stoic warrior. Don't be shy with the crowns, chains, and robes. 

 

No shoes in the house! We go barefoot for maximum coziness.

Do not park in our neighborhood or you will not be admitted to the event!
A ticket AND proof that you didn't park in the neighborhood (Uber/Lyft or free shuttle receipt) will be required for entry to the party.

We've hired a professional shuttle service to bring you to and from the venue.
Shuttles will run up to the Berkeley hills mansion from Rockridge BART Plaza.
Shuttles will run every 15-20 minutes from 6:45pm until 3:45am.
