Born and raised in Southern California to a multi-cultural family, he started playing guitar and writing songs in his early teens. He went on to study guitar and composition at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where his love for Spanish, Brazilian, and Indian Classical music became an intimate part of his musical expression. During his college years, he won research grants and scholarships to study Flamenco guitar in Seville, Spain; Samba, Choro, and Bossa Nova in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Hindustani music in Hyderabad, India.
8:30 PM | Teed Rockwell (Hindustani Classical Music)
Teed Rockwell had over a hundred classes in Hindustani Classical Music with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and also studied extensively with Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pandit Habib Khan, and Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. He is the first person to play Indian Classical Music on the Touchstyle Veena, a customized version of the instrument known as the Chapman Stick. After years of practice and performance, he has developed a style which adapts the deep and profound nuances of the Hindustani tradition to this brand new instrument. His playing reveals that the touchstyle veena is capable of both preserving and extending one of the world’s richest and most expressive musical genres.

A Tea Tygers Benefit
The Tea Tygers were at 2:00 & E in Black Rock City. We created a large, beautifully decorated tea tent offering gourmet teas served in various ceremonial styles.
Despite the flooding, we continued to offer tea service 24-hours-a-day and feature performances including Sufi whirling dervishes, bellydance, bluegrass, and guzheng.
We're raising funds to help cover our expenses from the flooding which destroyed or damaged a lot of our gear and drastically increased our costs.
