Game Against Depression, G.A.D, is a gaming event that aims to create an open dialogue about mental health issues. Mixing professional football players, Twitch broadcasters, professional gamers, chart topping musicians, and well known icons in the gaming world, G.A.D will show viewers that not only are they not alone in feeling the way they do, but that even their heroes are acknowledging the seriousness of mental health. As much as this will be an event geared toward mental health, it will be equal parts gaming. Viewers and attendees will enjoy watching and playing Hearthstone with their favorite players. The entirety of this event will be live streamed on Twitch.tv, but takes place live from the Esports Arena in Santa Ana.
During the event Anxiety Gaming Inc will be collecting donations, many of such donations will trigger absurd events – flooding the stage with Corgis, for example. These donations go towards Anxiety Gaming Inc’s two outreach programs: Consoles 4 Kids (C4K), which gives video game consoles and computers to foster homes and shelters, and the therapy grant program that completely covers the cost of mental health care for those that couldn’t otherwise afford it.
