We’re getting stupidly giddy with excitement about the greatest little festival on the planet happening in just under a month, but just to throw a little extra butter on your toast, The Others Way are throwing a cheeky little warm-up party! Yep, it’s The Night Before The Others Way, featuring Brisb-babes Girl and Girl, and Pōneke powerhouse Vera Ellen!
Brisbane four-piece garage rock’n’roll Girl and Girl are not only one of Sub Pop’s latest signings, they’re also one of the best live acts you’re likely to see this side of Christmas. In fact, the live Girl and Girl experience is said to be so electric and unmissable that we’ve invited them to come and play this super secret sneaky extra show.
Thursday 30th November at Whammy Bar, don’t miss charisma-charged frontperson Kai James, his auntie Liss on drums, his good pal Jayden Williams on guitar and all round great guy Fraser Bell on bass. There’s a reason the likes of Drycleaning and Blondshell have hand picked Girl and Girl to join their tours, and you’re about to find out what it is…
But one band on a bill would just be weird, even in 2023, so we’ve gone and locked in one of our all-time favourite acts to join the line-up. That’s right, of course we’re talking about the astonishingly talented Vera Ellen, who not only slayed at the Silver Scrolls when she sung The Front Lawn’s Andy and had everyone in bloody tears, but also released an absolutely killer album - Ideal Home Noise - earlier this year.
The Night Before The Other’s Way, it’s happening, so it might as well be amazing, right?
