Tempo Schmempo Presents Yurt Party (Queenstown)

Mid-winter is nearly upon us, and what better way to warm those tootsies than with the finest foot-stomping fusion of Balkan, Latin and Dub goodness this country has to offer. 

That's right folks, Tempo Schmempo is very proud to present the one and only Yurt Party for two very special South Island shows across the 19th and 20th of July, in Wanaka and Queenstown respectively.

For the uninitiated, Yurt Party are a one-of-a-kind musical feast, creating collective joy for over 5 years across Aotearoa. The 6+ piece Ōtautahi band have been performing around NZ, electrifying festival dance floors and winning over the hearts of their audiences with their dynamic, eclectic blend of Balkan Folk, Dub and House. Propelled by sold out shows, the band comes hot of the heels of a hugely successful national tour in support of their fantastic self-titled debut album. 

Supporting the band on this run of shows will be Wanaka’s local sons Rare Specimens. These groove merchants burst onto the national scene off the back of an incendiary Rhythm & Alps performance in 2023, in which they were simultaneously described as the best act at the festival and “The Travelling Wilbury’s of DJing.” A Tempo Schmempo house band of sorts, the DJ quartet is comprised of DJ’s Everybody, Nick Munday, ODCJ and Pete Green, and has garnered a reputation for high energy performances centred around quick fire b2b mixes that span their cavernous music collections across vinyl and digital.
