Subsonic Music Festival 2015

Subsonic 2015’s first lineup announcement is a sharp nod to our house & techno roots, a smattering of rhythmic eclecticism, and a mixture of both scene stalwarts and some of the hottest profiles at present.

Leading the way into our first drop for ‘15 is German heavyweight Roman Flügel. Releasing under numerous monikers, co-founding labels Ongaku, Klang & Playhouse, and producing for Sven Vath, Roman’s DJ retrospective acid-house & techno laced DJ sets are legendary. Keeping on the techno tip, set to join him from the UK is electronica wizard and label boss, Max Cooper, who has accumulated numerous awards & accolades for his musical accomplishments from establishments, critics and voters alike. Max is bringing his Emergence live show to Subsonic, which is an audio-visual journey influenced by science and an exploration of reality.

Arguably the hottest label of the moment, Fuse London are bringing their signature deep dubby house for the first time ever to Australia, with a label showcase featuring man-of-the-moment Enzo Siragusa, Rich NXT & Seb Zito. Fuse have been making a huge splash on the international circuit for the past several years, and with fabled club nights well-established in London & Ibiza, their sound has inspired a new generation of producers worldwide.

Bulgarian talent KiNK will be treating us to one of his renowned modular analogue performances, while French trio dOP will follow suit, accompanied by the smooth & twisted vocals of prolific vocalist, front man Jaw. Joining them is Fuse-regular, French-turned-Berliner, and of course, Subsonic favourite, Alexkid, accompanied by US label boss & prolific producer, house legend Rick Wade. And finally, we round off our first lineup release by switching tempo with Melbourne-born artist Dub FX, with a live performance created with loops pedals and combined with his voice to create a rich rhythmic tapestry of hip-hop, reggae & drum & bass.

Like the inaudible sub-frequencies that make your very being vibrate, Subsonic Music is the mover, and you, our people: the shakers. It’s few gatherings that can give a truly other-worldly experience through realisation by both the creators and the participants. Mix together a healthy dose of imagination, love, music, life, nature, culture, art, community, and friendship with an ever-growing family of several thousand, and you have the heart and soul of everything we at Subsonic do: Subsonic Music Festival.

So thanks to you each year we continue to grow, to learn, to get bigger, and better, and 2015 auspiciously brings about Subsonic Music Festivals' 7th gathering. Once more in December we invite you to the lush backdrop of New South Wales' Riverwood Down’s Mountain Valley Resort, to our own Middle Earth, where every headliner is the hero and each stranger a friend you’ve not yet met. Where every days harkens an encounter of the best kind; the quirky and the kinky, the weird and the wonky, the unorthodox and the excellent all come together under our carefully crafted canopy of culture. And where a solid 72 hours of aural delights are sistered with an immaculate non-stop accompaniment of performances, circus arts, yoga, workshops, drummers, fire dancers, carnivalers and faerie-folk.

And last, but certainly not least - the music. As part of our namesake itself, our music surely is the glue that binds our gathering together in a warm & fuzzy Subsonic embrace. We curate over 170 international and local artists from Australia & around the globe. We joyously spoon-feed our following the creme of the underground crop: hip-hop, house, world, jazz, funk, techno, bass and everything in between.
