Running Touch

Running Touch is the mysterious artist from Melbourne, Australia that has grown from an industry whisper to one of the most esteemed acts to hit the electronic music circuit in recent times.

The Running Touch project is a middle-grounded insertion into a body of alias’, fluently rocking back and forth between experimental electronic, indie-pop and indie-electronic sounds. In just a few short years, Running Touch has earned himself a reputation as not only an exceptional producer – but live performer, songwriter, lyricist, singer, creator and a forward-thinking visionary more than just a musician alone.

For his debut year in 2015, Running Touch saw himself named as the #7 artist to watch for 2016 [inthemix], came in as one of the 50 most played acts on Triple J Unearthed, dubbed as ‘The Best Kept Secret in Australian Dance Music’ by Buzzfeed and had his breakout track ‘What’s Best For You’ listed as one of the Top 100 Tracks of 2015 [inthemix] to name just a few in his long list of commendable achievements.

Fast forward a short time later and Running Touch and his steady rise to a global takeover is fast and apparent. In 2017 alone, Running Touch released his debut EP ‘A Body Slow’, hitting #1 on iTunes Electronic album charts and #9 overall. Closely following his EP release came a huge 15 date AUS/NZ headline tour, selling out every show across the country in a matter of weeks, including 1600 tickets in a number of days across two Corner Hotel shows in his hometown of Melbourne.

Beyond the studio, Running Touch is an incredibly captivating live performer – A hybrid between a one-man-band and electronic act - combining his talents as a guitarist, pianist, bassist, vocalist and dancer to create a beautifuly weird and exceptionally wonderful live-performance that has seen him secure placements on some of the biggest and most prestigious stages – Splendour in the Grass, Groovin’ The Moo, MTV ‘Beats and Eats’, Beyond The Valley, Listen Out, For The Love, Your Paradise Fiji, Southbound Festival and SXSW to name just a few, additionally, supporting global sensations on their headline tours such as Odesza, ZHU, Safia, PACES, Miami Horror, The Aston Shuffle and Crooked Colours.

His first major TV sync came through on Netflix’s hugely successful series ‘RIVERDALE’, leading to a number of songwriting requests for blockbuster films such as 50 Shades Freed, and Blade Runner 2049.

With a musical background stemming from the Hardcore scene, Running Touch serves as the founding member and main studio writer of one of Australia’s top breakthrough hardcore bands ‘Ocean Grove’ whose album earlier this year was chosen as Triple J’s Album of the Week and debuted at #5 on ARIA’s album charts, leading them to play mainstage at Splendour In The Grass and sell out huge headline tours across Australia and Europe, proving again and again that his creative ability cannot be bound or defined by genres or art forms.

Running Touch’s presence on tastemaker station Triple J is also commendable, with a song always on high rotation at any given time, seeing him compared to the likes of Chet Faker, ZHU, Disclousure and Rufus, as well as gaining the love and support from Triple J’s Music Director Richard Kingsmill – receiving praise for all releases and 5-stars on his Triple J Unearthed profile – a commendable feat in itself.
