Collaborating with legendary artists like Sugar Minott, Brother Culture, Ranking Joe, Soom T, and Sister Nancy (to name just a few), Mungo's Hi Fi continues to push the boundaries of modern dub and sound system culture, earning them a dedicated following worldwide.
From their extensive catalog of hits released through Scotch Bonnet Records to their electrifying performances at renowned festivals and venues, Mungo's Hi Fi brings an unmatched energy to the world of bass music.
~NARAM~
Despite growing up in the sheepy isles of Aotearoa, Naram is a reggae composer, engineer and dub mixer who has gained a reputation as one of the most authentic purveyors of digital reggae and rub-a-dub in the modern era.
Inspired by the artistry of the Jamaicans who pioneered the sound in the 1980s, he has obsessively studied the science behind the sound. Having said that, he has his own unique take on reggae - favouring a dark, minimalist approach where imperfections are celebrated, rather than hidden.
His idiosyncratic riddims have been voiced by a range of legendary artistes, including Cutty Ranks, Eek-a-Mouse, Linval Thompson, Freddie McGregor, Ranking Ann, Sister Carol and King Kong. But his most celebrated work to date has been with Wiston Powell - aka Midnight Riders - with whom he released the album Midnight Riders meets the Naram Rhythm Section, leading to a late career flourish for the previously under-the-radar Jamaican singer.
~Wakamana~
Wakamana is a Scottish/Kiwi musician, and has been running riddims for over 15 years. Currently based in Queenstown NZ, Wakamana is well known for huge dubplates, massive bass-heavy reggae sets, and as a Sound System operator, radio host and promoter. Wakamana has supported some of the biggest reggae artists over the years, such as David Rodigan, Gardna, Eva Lazarus, Tiki Taane and Mungo's Hi Fi, and regularly shells out at festivals and events across NZ. He's currently the Australasian Tour Manager for Mungo's, and will be bringing a huge vibe to Auckland city
