Banished Music Presents
House Of Booker
Flux Bar
Friday 3 November
9pm till late
Hot on the heels of a sold out show at Meow in Wellington at the beginning of September, House of Booker again takes to the road. This time to a very special destination: Christchurch. The hometown of Frank Booker, where he began his long musical journey before migrating north to Auckland City!
The concept is deceptively simple: Frank Booker takes control of the music for the entire night's proceedings from the moment the doors open, until the lights come up!
There will be Disco: The soulful, sophisticated sound of Black music made for the dancefloor. There will be Boogie: the electronic, early 80s offshoot of Disco with drum machines and synthesizers. There will be Broken Beat: emerging from West London in the late 90s and early 2000s - Think Kaidi Tatham, 4 Hero, Bugz in The Attic and Phil Asher. Finally, there’s Garage and House - two genres that are deeply influential in Booker’s music. Garage brings to mind the sound of post-Paradise Garage New York - with gospel influenced dance music from the likes of Tony Humphries, Blaze and Smack productions. And House? Well, as Booker puts it - it’s a feeling that's best shared together on the dancefloor.
Don’t miss the House of Booker on Friday 3rd November at Flux!
