Get ready, get steady and get… Hebbe-y?

The Port Dubs Collective, Support Your Local Collective, Antidawn, and The Mothership have formed the promotional equivalent of the Avengers to bring the certified legend, Hebbe to Auckland! For the uninitiated, Hebbe is a true icon of the dubstep scene. His productions are characterised by haunting pads and atmospheres, crisp drums, and uniquely wonky basslines. With his versatile productions and sound design, not being sonically limited is a major strength of the Dutchman.

Hebbe has released on some of the most notable labels in the 140 sphere. System Music, Artikal, Duploc, Crucial, and White Peach have all played host to his weighty tunes. When you’re a masterful DJ and producer, having an ear for quality music is a given. As a natural progression, he started his own label Basskruit - proudly pushing a unique facet of dubstep from Rotterdam, Netherlands, where Hebbe originates. Alongside Hebbe, takeovers from each crew will showcase the full 140BPM spectrum bubbling beneath the surface of Tāmaki Makaurau and ensure the soundsystem is put through its paces.

There’s no need to wonder whether it’ll be up to the task however, as the PDC rig will be present for sound reinforcement to be absolutely certain The Mothership is engulfed in a wave of low end pressure. To start the night, we’ll have the mighty PDC selectas rolling out some dub from 9PM to get down early and enjoy the mellow skanking vibes. Expect anything from reggae to steppas blasting through the beefed up Mothership system.

Next up, the lads at SYLC will be taking up the energy and darkening the mood with some heavy hitting basslines all over the dubstep spectrum - expect grimey flavours and much more from the young lads as they set the tone for the mighty Hebbe.

To keep things rolling ‘till close we have the Antidawn crew showcasing their eclectic and left field selections - this lot can’t be pigeon holed, with an ethos of pushing the limits of genres across the bass music spectrum, the only adjectives fit to describe them are; beautifully experimental.

Get in early, stay late and bear witness to an icon of the dubstep scene who doesn’t often venture to our side of the world.

Nga mihi nui x, PDC SYLC AntiDawn
