Saturday March 23rd.

Neck of the Woods.

Hendrick's Gin, Jazz Auckland and 95bFM are proud to announce Allysha Joy live at Neck of the Woods on the 23rd March '24.
Off the back of accolades from her 2023 European, Japanese and two American tours, we are stoked to welcome one of our favourite artists, the lead singer from the mighty 30/70 Collective, Melbourne’s Allysha Joy! With an awesome catalogue of solo and collaborated music this is going to be something very special!
The Ghost Soundsystem will be given a workout down in the NOTW basement with added support on the turnies provided by Christoph el Turento (@Peace, Avantdale Bowling Club) and Hudge (Mass Appeal 95bFM).

A bit about Allysha...
Well versed in poetry and performance, Joy’s potent lyricism, unique musicianship and incredible vocals have garnered legions of attentive fans the world over.
Joy has seamlessly forged her own sound over the years, putting her different skills on show, as singer, songwriter, keys player and selector. Well known as 30/70’s lead vocalist and with a heavy line-up of collaborations over the years, she has marked her place across continents, expansive projects and genres.
In 2022 Allysha brought a brand new amalgamation of her poetic practice and production to the forefront, with the release of her sophomore album ‘Torn : Tonic’ on First Word Records. Staunch and broken, poetic and vibrant, this second album encapsulates the pain and the remedy, and celebrates an incredible selection of feature artists; including Ego Ella May, Julien Dyne, and Dancing Water, as well as her debut as a producer.
On the live circuit, Joy has performed alongside the likes of Sampa the Great, Ezra Collective, Children of Zeus and KOKOROKO as well as performing at notable festivals such as We Out Here and Montreux Jazz Festival. Maintaining a monthly “Australian” radio show on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM and compiling the VA compilation ‘They’re Energised’ for UK Label CoOp Presents, Allysha continues to provide platforms for “Australian” artists to reach global audiences, seeking opportunities to connect music and music lovers around the world over.
Allysha’s lyrics weave together a heartfelt mix of love, power, wonder, anger, faith and hope for change. An artist that presents a palette of intricate grace and optimism, whilst unafraid of adding uncomfortable truths. An incredibly powerful live performer; Allysha’s husky vocals sonically sync with her formidable Fender Rhodes playing, whilst her influences are a solid base of jazz, hip hop and R&B; all glazed with the unique special sauce the Melbourne / Narrm soul scene has become known for globally.

“The brilliant Allysha Joy on vocals .. this group (30/70 Collective) are very much the future of what’s going on in Melbourne in many ways!”
Gilles Peterson, BBC

“Wherever Allysha pops up I'm going to follow. She's got to have one of the most incredible voices in the country right now.”
Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J

“Allysha is pushing boundaries as a keys player (specifically Fender Rhodes), a poet, a singer and a producer. Until you see it live, it’s hard to understand how she manages to create her extraordinary full band sound in a solo show form just piano and simple pads, but all the beats are hers and she lays down some groove. “Know your power” indeed.”
Resident Advisor

“Quickly emerging as a prominent voice of Melbourne’s lauded soul scene, Allysha Joy brings exactly what her name suggests to a debut LP. Both powerfully forward-thinking and grounded, Acadie: Raw is expressive, experimental and unashamed of its honesty.”
Sami Heinonen-Barnes, Future Mag

“Acadie: Raw is everything there is to love about the current neo-soul and nu-jazz movements, combining sounds from both styles with adventurous abandon. This results in a flurry of smooth, exciting instrumentals for Allysha Joy to lay her sultry, silken vocals over. What a voice!”
Everything is Noise, ‘Album of the Year 2018’

“Joy proves that she is not only an incredibly talented vocalist, but also a diverse musician. Jazz, Hip Hop and RnB influences and her honest and personal song writing make this LP and elaborate and complex work of music”
