Take free bookings and RSVPs on your own event page

At a free event, some of the people who RSVP never arrive. Your staffing, your stock and your sponsors depend on the number who do. Freefund lets you offer free entry backed by a refundable deposit. Guests pay the admission ticket price as a deposit and get it back when your door team scans them in. Everyone who comes pays nothing, and each RSVP counts.

Turn Freefund on for all admission tickets at once, or for one ticket type, such as a free RSVP alongside a paid VIP ticket. You choose the deposit: large enough to put off people who book with no plan to come, and small enough that nobody hesitates.

Describe your tickets on your event page as free entry for attendees who check in, backed by a refundable deposit. Buyers then know exactly what they are agreeing to before they pay.

Selling entry by time slot? Turn Freefund on for the whole event, and each time-slot ticket carries a refundable deposit too. A free museum day or a timed open house fills its slots with people who arrive.

  • Refundable deposit: the ticket price comes back at check-in
  • All admission tickets or one: the whole event or a single ticket type
  • Your confirmation recorded: who agreed the terms, and when

Give guests their deposit back as they walk in

Attendees walk in knowing their money is on its way back. Your door team scans each ticket as its attendee arrives. An eligible attendee hears straight away that the deposit is going back to their card. Each ticket in an order counts on its own. Friends who come get their deposit back, and only the tickets nobody used are charged.

You decide what counts as turning up. Choose throughout the event, or a specific time. You can also choose a time relative to the start or end, such as two hours after the event starts. A guest who arrives after your deadline still gets in, and you keep their deposit.

Where the card allows it, Ticket Fairy holds the deposits on the buyer's card. We charge only the tickets your door team has not scanned by your deadline. Most guests who come are never charged at all.

  • Back at the door: the guest hears as soon as they are scanned
  • Your check-in deadline: throughout the event or a time you choose
  • Each ticket on its own: friends who come get theirs back

Launch a free event with deposits in minutes

The Freefund RSVP template gives you a free event with deposits already in place. It has the Freefund setting for all admission tickets and a refundable deposit ticket type. Enter the deposit as the ticket price, and your event page is ready to publish. Or tell Fai, the assistant inside your dashboard, which tickets should be free at check-in. She sets the deadline, shows you exactly what is charged and asks for your approval, which records your confirmation.

Away from your desk? In the Ticket Fairy mobile app, you can turn Freefund on for the event and choose its check-in deadline. The app marks each ticket type that gives its price back at check-in and keeps its deposit locked. Nobody on your team changes a deposit by mistake after guests have booked.

Earn from your livestream with its own event page

A stream anyone can open earns you nothing from the people watching it. Create an online event with its own event page, dates, time zone and currency. Sell it with the same ticket types, releases and promo codes you use at a venue. Buyers check out on your event page or in the checkout on your own website. Your sales appear in the same reports as your other events.

Stream from the service you already use. Connect your Zoom account and create the meeting from your event. Set the meeting password, waiting room, mute upon entry and recording the way you run your sessions. Streaming on YouTube, Twitch or Facebook? Add the stream code, or the embed code from another streaming service, and preview the stream before you sell.

Already scheduled the session in Zoom? Pick it from the meetings in your connected account instead of creating a new one. When a different host runs the session, switch to another Zoom account. Let attendees join before the host when you want the room full by the time you start.

  • Zoom meetings: created from your event
  • YouTube, Twitch and Facebook: or the embed code from any stream
  • Your usual ticketing: releases, promo codes and reports

Give each viewer their own link and take donations

Each ticket has its own watch link. A buyer signs in to watch, and the link stays with the account that opened it first. A forwarded link does not let a second viewer in. Viewers watch on a page with your event's artwork, and viewers who want to give more donate while they watch.

Bring viewers back in time with a reminder email on a date you set, or a number of minutes before the stream starts. Until you go live, the watch page shows your pre-event content, an image or a holding stream. Viewers who arrive early know they are in the right place.

Take donations as an amount the viewer chooses, with a minimum if you want one, or as buttons for the fixed amounts you add. Viewers donate from the watch page and from their order page, and each donor gets a thank-you email. You are paid the same way as for your ticket sales.

  • One ticket, one viewer: a watch link that stays with its buyer
  • Reminder emails: viewers back in time for the start
  • Donations: any amount or the amounts you set

How you can use free and online event tickets

  • A free community meetup

A community organiser runs a free monthly meetup with a small refundable deposit on each RSVP. Most people who book now come, and they get their deposits back at the door. The organiser orders food for the number they can count on.

  • A free launch party with sponsors

A brand launch offers free entry with Freefund on the general ticket and a paid VIP ticket alongside. The sponsor gets a guest count it can trust, and late arrivals after the deadline still get in.

  • A livestreamed concert

A venue streams a sold-out show on YouTube and sells online tickets alongside the room. Each viewer watches from their own link, and donations from the people watching pay the crew.

  • An online workshop on Zoom

A trainer creates the Zoom meeting from the event, with a waiting room and recording on. She sends a reminder an hour before the start. Each attendee joins from the link on their own ticket.

Questions About Free and Online Event Tickets

When a card hold can stay in place until the event ends, Ticket Fairy holds one amount for the order. It later charges only the deposits for tickets not scanned by the deadline. Otherwise the card is charged at checkout, and each eligible ticket is refunded when your door team scans it. The card issuer can take several days to show a released hold or a refund.

Card payments for each currency your event uses, and an event with a start and end time. A deadline you choose has to fall between them, and any deposit above zero works.

With Zoom, you connect your Zoom account and create the meeting from Ticket Fairy. With YouTube, Twitch and Facebook, you add the stream code. Any other streaming service works through its embed code.

Yes. A buyer signs in when they open their watch link, and the link then belongs to their account. Anyone who opens the same link from a different account goes back to your event page.
